I grew up on a canal on the south shore of Long Island. Long days on the boat and beaches in the summer.  I figured out I need to be by water and nature to really feel calm and restored

This industry is about ON SITE PROBLEM SOLVING more than anything else. I was able to become a strong problem solver and keep the creative edge by visiting sites and checking on progress.

While of course we want the piece to be beautiful, we also want to know: Who is the artist? Where are they from? How does this shape their work? From where did they pull inspiration for this particular piece? These details matter deeply to us, and we always pass them on to our clients so that they can fully appreciate the pieces once in their space.

Beyond the switch, I hope people understand the concept as a whole—a design philosophy that ensures every element of an interior comes together seamlessly. As a designer, there’s nothing more satisfying than completing a project and feeling everything is in harmony. As a homeowner, it’s about sitting in your space and feeling at home—from the sofa to the smallest detail, like the switch that turns on the light.

Lighting influences everything for us - but not necessarily in the way most people think. We play with it because its so engrained in us so most of the time is more about the feel than the look of it. Some things you might see more are for example how we did a sculptural light detail for a bathroom inspired in a venice biennial exhibit, that was fun!

My biggest source of inspiration is other designers. I think its so amazing to see the lens and perspective of others to see how they play with things and how they incorporate different pieces and textures.

We don’t approach any project in terms of trends. We truly believe in a design that withstands the test of time, and live in LALA land where what we are drawn to, is incorporated into the design overall.

Although I have a defined style, I love many styles of architecture and design. I enjoy the challenge of working with different architects who have diverse styles. I like to explore and adapt to something outside of my comfort zone.

If you look at my house, my work and my platform it’s no secret that I am a great fan of neutrals. My own house is very minimalistic. With four kids under the age of eight and therefore a constant beautiful chaos it’s important to me to have clean lines and zero clutter. I follow the principles of Feng Shui when it comes to my own homes and I advise clients to do the same.

I’ve always been drawn to interior design, from a really young age. I can recall being 12 years old, and saved up my allowance to purchase an old chandelier I’d found on Craigslist and fell in love with, haha.

Salt came to be when I was designing Hayley’s Toronto home. We were working closely and had a hard time finding the pieces and styles we were envisioning within the Canadian market. So, we started going on buying and sourcing trips internationally.
